Simon Gray Pest Controller

Simon Gray

I have been involved in pest control for pretty much all of my life, initially working for the Dennis family at Stenigot Estates. In those days, they ran one of the biggest and most prestigious game shoots in the country. Two full-time keepers and several under keepers were required to manage the shoot – of which I was employed as one of the latter. I have been very fortunate to be trained by the Head Keeper, John Cope, a very highly regarded man in the world of gamekeeping. As a young boy, my jobs included rodent control around the Estate buildings, stables and release pens and mole trapping in the paddocks and on the lawns. Grey Squirrel, Fox and Rabbit control were also high on the agenda.

I then went to work for Ormsby Game Services (a large concern in those days) as part of a team of keepers running a large shoot and a huge pheasant and partridge breeding programme. They would then supply other shoots around the country with their birds.

Thirty years on, I started my own Pest Control Business to serve the local community and today most of our work comes from “word of mouth” recommendation.
